NEET UG 2022 Councelling Date Seat Allotment Dates, Process

NEET UG counselling 2022 has started. The Seat Allocation Authority has started the registration and choice filling process. Students can register for the counselling using the direct link given below. The schedule of counselling has been announced by the NTA and the same can be checked here. NEET UG 2022 counselling will be conducted online in a total of six rounds. To participate in the counselling, students will be required to register online on the website and fill in choices of their preferred institutes and branches.

Students who appeared in NEET UG 2022 are eligible to participate in the counselling for admission to all the participating institutes of NTA through NEET UG scores. Students with a rank in Neet Exam will be admitted to IITs through NTA.  Admissions to all 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 25 IIITs and GFTIs will be through NTA counselling. The allotment of seats will be on the basis of choices filled by the students during NTA 2022 registration. Students must go through NTA eligibility criteria before appearing in the counselling process.

NEET UG Counselling 2022 Highlights

  • NTA organises a combined counselling process for admission of NEET UG and Neet Exam qualified students in IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs.
  • The counselling for vacant seats after NTA counselling will be organised by Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB)
  • Supernumerary seats in colleges of the North East and Union Territories location are allocated by special counselling CSAB NEUT
  • Central Seat Allocation Board will also conduct a separate counselling procedure CSAB SFTI for 18 Self Financing Technical Institutes (SFTIs).

NEET UG 2022 Counselling Procedure

The counselling of NEET UG 2022 will consist of various processes. Students need to complete each step to participate in the counselling. The detailed step-by-step procedure of counselling is described here.

Step 1: Registration - Firstly, students have to visit the official website of NTA. Students who will appear in NEET UG 2022 or Neet Exam 2022 need to register to participate in the counselling. Below are steps to fill the NTA 2022 registration form online:

  • Visit the official website of NTA
  • On the login page, enter NEET UG 2022 application number, password and security pin.
  • Read the instructions and click on the 'I Agree' option
  • NTA counselling form will be displayed
  • Fill the form and click on ‘Confirm Registration’

Step 2: Choice filling & locking: In the second step, students will be required to lock their college and course preferences. Seats will be allotted to aspirants based on their availability and choices filled by them. Below are the steps of online choice filling and locking.

  • On the online form, select a choice of colleges and courses
  • Students can opt for edit/change/delete choices
  • After verifying, lock the choices
  • Students can lock their choices after each round of counselling

Step 3: NEET UG 2022 Seat Allotment - Seats will be allocated to the students based on their ranks obtained in NEET UG 2022/Neet Exam 2022. Mock seat allotment by NTA was also conducted in two rounds. Students who will be allotted seats will be required to confirm their admission by paying the admission confirmation fee and reporting to the allotted institute as per the specified dates.

  • Students will be offered admission based on the choices filled by them and NEET UG All India Rank (AIR) 2022 through NEET UG seat allocation process.
  • The students will be able to make their choices online for branches/programs and institutes at an appropriate time.
  • The verification of documents will be done at the time of the seat allocation process/admission.
  • During this process, the conducting authority will verify different records regarding age, identification, qualifying examination, state of eligibility, category and disability (if any) of the student.
  • Students who fail to produce any of the documents, will not be considered for admission.
  • Students belonging to Gen-EWS, SC, ST, OBC and PwD category will be required to produce the original certificate as per prescribed formats issued by the competent authority at the time of NEET UG 2022 seat allotment process as well as at the time of admission.

Step 4: Payment of admission fees - After the seat allotment procedure, students have to pay the counselling fees and confirm their seats. Students have to pay the seat acceptance fee for the allotted seats through Net Banking/e-Challan. All the required documents will be verified at the reporting centre. After verification of the documents and payment of the fee, a provisional admission letter will be issued to the students.

However, if students are not satisfied with the allotted seat then they can use float, freeze, slide and withdraw.

  • Float: Students who wish to keep the allotted seat or upgrade their seat, can choose this option.

  • Freeze: In case students are satisfied with their allocated seats and do not want to participate in further rounds of counselling they can select the 'Freeze' option.

  • Slide: Students who want to accept the allotted seat and upgrade the programme in the same college/institute, can select the 'Slide' option.

  • Withdraw: Students who have already accepted the seat, but want to withdraw the seat can choose this option by reporting at the allotted institute before the final round of NEET UG 2022 seat allotment.

Step 5: Reporting to the centre for document verification - In this step, students have to carry their original documents and report to the allotted NTA 2022 reporting centre. If in case, students fail to report to the centre or do not produce all the necessary documents, their candidature might get cancelled. Students must keep multiple copies of all the documents for verification and seat confirmation. Below are the documents required for NEET UG 2022 seat allotment.

Step 6: Final reporting to the allotted institute - This is the final step of NEET UG 2022 counselling. Students have to report to the allotted institute and pay the balance fees within the prescribed timeline.

NEET UG 2022 Special Round Counselling

CSAB conducts centralised counselling for four categories as mentioned below:

1. CSAB Special Round: For all NITs, IIITs and CFTIs across India

2. CSAB SFTI: For 12 self-financed technical institutes

3. CSAB NEUT: For supernumerary seats in NITs for Union Territories, and in some AICTE-approved institutes for North East and Union Territories (NEUT). CSAB counselling process will be conducted for 12 North East and Union Territories which includes Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Dadar & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep.

4. CSAB Supernumerary: For the supernumerary round of counselling for Union Territories (UTs) of Andaman & Nicobar, Dadar & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep & Khandvi

  • The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) will conduct two special rounds of NEET UG counselling after the conclusion of the NTA 2022 seat allotment process.
  • CSAB Special rounds are conducted for seats that remain vacant after seven rounds of NTA counselling.
  • Students who have a valid NEET UG 2022 score can participate in the special round of counselling.
  • CSAB 2022 registrations for special round counselling will begin tentatively from the last week of August.

NEET UG eligibility for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs, SFIs

The authority will offer admission to BTech/BArch/planning courses in the NITs, IIITs and GFTIs based on All India Rank (AIR). The criteria of 75% marks in class 12 examination (for SC/ST students the minimum requirement is 65% in class 12) is likely to be waived off. 

NEET UG eligibility criteria for BArch and BPlan admission

  • Architecture students have to pass the qualifying examination with 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and 50% in aggregate of the qualifying exam.
  • For BPlanning students should have passed class XII or qualifying exam with 50% in Mathematics and 50% in aggregate of the qualifying exam.

NEET UG eligibility for other institutions

  • The above criteria will also apply to other Technical Institutions participating in counselling through NTA/CSAB.
  • In case a State opts to admit students to the engineering Colleges affiliated with State Universities, the State may prepare a separate rank list based on criteria decided by them.

Q. When will NEET UG 2022 counselling begin?

A. NEET UG 2022 counselling has been announced. Students have to visit the official website of NTA 2022 for registration, choice filling, locking their choices and further counselling process.

Q. I am not interested in the seat offered during NEET UG counselling. Can I still participate in further seat allotment rounds without accepting the allotted seat?

A. Students must not fill in the course if they are not interested to pursue it. To participate in the further rounds of counselling, students must not accept the seat or else they will not be able to participate in further rounds of the seat allotment process.

Q. What is mock seat allotment?

A. Mock seat allotment is a process through which students will know the seat allotment so that they can be familiar with the process and choose their preferences in the seat allotment rounds. NTA conducts two mock seat allotment rounds.

Q. Is the NEET UG counselling fee the same for all categories?

A. No, the counselling/seat acceptance fee is different for all the categories. The fee for General students is Rs. 45000. While, the fee for SC/ ST/ SC-PwD/ ST-PwD/ GEN-PwD/ OBC-NCL-PwD is Rs. 20,000.
